A disappointing home weekend for Whitley

It was a disappointing weekend for all at Whitley Bay Ice Hockey Club Junior Development after loosing all 5 of the games which were played.

On Saturday, the Arrows played away to Coventry and lost 3 – 2. Following this, the short benched Mohawks played away to Telford and lost 9 – 2.

Everyone thought the whole weekend could be reversed with two home games on Sunday, however this was not going to be the case.

The first game at Whitley Bay, the Mohawks Vs. Coventry, was set to be a tricky game. After getting off to a good start with a goal, Coventry then came back and fired another 13 past our posts, before the game ended with a 13 – 2 defeat for our young squad.

The Braves played Nottingham next, which was set to be a very exciting game as both teams hadn’t lost a game in the league yet. Whitley, however was short benched due to bans from their previous game. The 12 players gave it their all, with some great shots on goal, however Nottingham’s net minder Callum Steventon proved to be to strong for Whitley’s Shots. The final score was 3 – 0 to Nottingham.

Callum Steventon gained Spirit of the game for Nottingham and Luke Milner for Whitley.

The Tomahawks also played away on Sunday to Sheffield and lost 5 – 0.

The next game faces off at Whitley Bay Ice Rink on 24th November, 12:30pm, as the Arrows take on Solihull
