With an early start,7:45 am at the rink it was going to be tiresome to get this body into gear let alone Josh out of bed, never-less onward and upward and to the rink we drove. Coach supplied by Coopers was luxurious and lavish,so onto the road to Hull we went on a glorious sunny bright blue skied morning ,if i had brought me sunglasses it would have most probably rained,

We arrived at the rink in good time at 11am ready for the under 16s clash with mighty Hull who sport an excellent team of very talented players, question was were they as talented as Whitleys.

The game got underway 1st goal Callum Stephenson, then an Equaliser goal by Lee Bonner,a rocket of a shot.and then a 2nd goal by Hull,,Whitley still having some good shots at Hull but without score,,until Conner Shanks sticks an equaliser in, Joe Hall hitting the bar on a solo effort excellent save by Good from a Finlayson shot on the powerplay, and then a mix-up leaves a solo run for Bonner on a 1 on 1 with netminder Josh Ion leads to a 3- 2 advantage until Conner shanks slipped home an equaliser. Then an excellent interception by Kaitlin Butterfield spoiled Hulls chances of another breakaway before the period break, 2nd period got under way with the scores on 3s each, both teams doing well then 4th goal by Adam Finlayson another rocket of a shot which bounced out of the netminders glove and into the net.

Half way through the 2nd period and the games a little physical with 4 Whitley players in the bin,. End of the 2nd sees a 4 – 3 lead to Whitley.

And then we are into the  3rd and a run by lee Bonner equals the scoreline and then another by hull then.again quickly equalised by callum queenan  made it a 5 n 5 scirelune  and then a sneaky gial by Ryan Kemp took Whitley into the lead ,,again!yep  then another equaliser by Hull, Lee Bonner again! ( Should have his name on cut and paste really) time out called and then the last 5 and a bit minutes game play a few more shots culminating in a  Callum Queenan goal which sealed 7-6 win to Whitley, and a defibrillator for me… well done to all. Just a nice quiet run home on the bus and we are laughing.
