Tomahawks v Sutton Sting U15’s

In a hard-fought game Tomahawks opened the season with a win over visitors Sutton Sting U15’s.

Sutton’s #78 opened the scoring in the first period. Despite several shots on target Tomahawks were not able to level the scoring ending the period 1-0 down.

It looked like the visitors were going to add a second goal early in the second period which lead to a scuffle at the net with James Toby picking up 2+2 in the penalty box for cross check and roughing, joined by Sutton’s #33  with 2 minutes for roughing.

Rohan Johnson levelled the score just a few minutes later outsmarting the defence and sliding a sneaky backhander between the netminders legs.   Owen Yarrow followed this with a further two goals before Sutton evened the score with quick goals from #9 and #19. Just 6 seconds later Tomahawks regained their lead with a chip from the blue line by D-man Ben Wilson.

There was everything to play for in the final period. Sutton fought hard to find a 4th goal but Owen Yarrow’s hat-trick cemented a 5-3 win for the Tomahawks.
