It was a tough double header for our u16s against Nottingham.
Nottingham took control early on in our first match at Hillheads. They created a couple of chances and managed to score via Euan Woodward after 2min47. Nottingham continued to press but netminder Orson Groot kept his goal clean for the rest of the period.
The second period continued the same way as the first period. Nottingham dominated possession and created lots of scoring chances and Whitley struggled to get out of their own zone. 2 early goals from Parsons Mehrvand and Alex Rushby made it an uphill struggle but Whitley kept battling and worked very hard to keep Nottingham in reach.
We had some chances but unfortunately Ben Wood and Ethan Dunn couldn’t convert.
Unfortunately, Nottingham were just too good for Whitley and the game was definitely out of reach when Nottingham added a late 4th through Theo Davies.
Overall though it was a very encouraging though for this u16 team which consisted for a large part of u14s. Spirit of the game went to netminder Orson Groot who stopped 44 out of 48 shots faced.
