A short benched Renegades travelled to the National Ice Centre for a feisty opening game of the season against Nottingham U20’s.
Alexander Mitchell picked up a 2 minute penalty for tripping with less than 2 minutes on the clock allowing Nottingham to take advantage of a power play and open the scoring. A late hit from Thomas Fraser followed landing him with 2 minutes in the penalty box. He redeemed himself on the power play when Nottingham picked up 2 minutes for tripping by evening the score, assisted by Logan Jean-Jacques and Ethan McLaughlin.
Nottingham unfortunately found the net again to finish the 2nd period 2-1 up.
At the start of the 3rd Period Daniel Winton picked up a 2 min penalty for roughing, followed quickly by a shorthand goal from Thomas Fraser to even the score again. This was short lived ad Nottingham piled on the pressure to score a goal on the remaining power play and regain the lead.
Despite Nottingham picking up a penalty for stick holding, Renegades could not find the back of the net.
A boarding call against Matthew Betham led to another power play goal by Nottingham, followed by a 10+2+2 for Alexander Mitchell giving the Nottingham advantage to score twice is quick succession to bring the score to 6-2.
Logan Jean-Jacques found the net for the renegades third goal to bring the final score to 6-3. A well fought game.
